URGENT! Olean City Council votes on War Vets Park Splash Pad tonight! Contact your alderman!
The bond for this project has now been raised for over $1.6 million, and if the park doesn't generate enough revenue, taxpayers will be on the hook for over $100,000 per year for the next 15 years. The Olean YMCA already has a splash pad in the works that is grant funded.
Olean doesn’t need another one in direct competition.Contact your alderman now and tell them to prioritize COVID-19 relief funding for public safety employees. We need to know how the park's operations will be financed before approving this project. Let's not make taxpayers bear the brunt of this irresponsibility. #StopTheSplashPad

Dear Alderman [Name]
My name is [Insert Name & Address]
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the War Vets Park Splash Pad project. As your constituent, I am strongly opposed to the proposed project, which is set to receive a $1.6 million bond from the city. I urge you to vote against this project and to prioritize our community's resources in a responsible and effective manner. If the park does not generate enough revenue, taxpayers will be responsible for over $100,000 per year for the next 15 years.
I believe that our community's resources should be used in a way that prioritizes the needs of our residents, and with our input. I urge you to vote against this project and to work towards supporting initiatives that will benefit our community as a whole.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for considering my concerns.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
