We have great news! On January 22, 2026, the LAFCO commissioners voted to place a timeline on signatures seeking annexation. This applies to the two petitions they currently have on hold. One is the Hemet Annexation, which is  4-6 years old. This means if Hemet United or the city would like to annex the unincorporated county areas, they will have to begin the process again. The new timeline is that an annexation petition with verified signatures must turn in all LAFCO-required documents within 1 year of the signatures being verified. 

While we all need to stay informed on what is happening in the Hemet Region, we can take this annexation push off the list. Remember to pay attention to county business since it impacts us.
