My personal engagement in this issue stems from a harrowing story of a man from Montana who was sentenced for federal wildlife trafficking charges in an attempt to create profit from this majestic creature (source: U.S Department of Justice). It pointed me to a disturbing fact that hunting the Marco Polo argali in Kyrgyzstan is currently approved, even though their population numbers suggest a different course. The Marco Polo argali, a unique species of wild sheep known for their impressive spiral horns, are facing reductive numbers annually. Hence, the time to act is now!

As per the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Marco Polo Argali are listed as Near Threatened, which is just one step away from being endangered. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan is known to possess the majority of this species’ population, making its habitat key to the survival of Marco Polo Argali.

The hunt for profit and trophy hunting pose an enormous threat to the survival of these unique animals, potentially affecting the delicate balance of the ecosystem they inhabit. We’re voicing our plea to the Government of Kyrgyzstan to put an end to the hunting of these valuable creatures. Help us protect the Marco Polo Argali in Kyrgyzstan before it’s too late.
