Good morning all,
Momentum is definitely building as more and more local residents realise the gravity of the state government's "I'm a builder not a blocker" statement from premier Jacinta Allan.
Bayside Council released the following statement yesterday: https://www.bayside.vic.gov.au/news/victorian-government-planning-reforms-damage-fabric-bayside
The 7:30 Report also ran a great segment on Tuesday you can find here if you missed it. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11-19/plan-for-high-rise-in-melbourne-suburbs-backlash/104621764
Make no mistake, we are at risk of losing our beloved suburbs, our beloved quiet streets, our beloved tree canopy, our beloved heritage homes and communities. We are literally at risk of destroying everything that makes Melbourne such a beautiful place to be.
This is not an inter-generational argument, this is not NIMBY vs YIMBY argument. This is addressing the elephant in the room regarding AFFORDABLE HOUSING none of which these developer led monstrosities are going to be.
