Residents are concerned that adding PID 40306565 to Appendix A-1 could expand development rights tied to outdated “Senior Citizens Housing” provisions that HRM has already acknowledged are difficult to enforce. Many of us spoke at the Feb 9th hearing, but the amendment was voted to go through. This Review Board Hearing is another chance to have our voices heard.

 

The Lucasville community has spoken throughout this process and many residents have made it clear they do not support large-scale apartment-style development in this area. There is concern this amendment could open the door for additional future development without proper safeguards, transparency, or meaningful community consultation.

 

Residents are also concerned about impacts related to:
• Traffic and speeding
• Infrastructure limitations
• Parking and emergency access
• Lack of sidewalks and transit
• Strain on community facilities
• Lack of meaningful African Nova Scotian community engagement

 

Even a short respectful letter matters.
