Alma Romero who has been leading the charge on this just posted an update... this is HUGE!!! I still don't know the details, but hope to learn soon so we know who is responsible at gov't level for having this thrown out. (We need to know who has our backs and who we want in office!)
Thank you for the continued support and signing on! If we show up in numbers and voice our opinion, but especially when you have someone taking the lead like Alma did, we are very lucky and grateful. This felt hopeless just days ago at the El Co neighborhood meeting. It felt like our reps at the county and the state just could not care less about the impact this would have on our community- both current and future residents who would live in these ridiculous boxes at market rate. It's still potentially at a triple density bonus (96 units in an area zoned for 34 units- to put that scale in perspective- 34 units is a lot for the area, as well), but that's leagues ahead of 1000+% that the county approved (200-250+ units at each site, 90ft/8-stories for both, no environmental quality control adherence, and 2.5-5 foot easements on property instead of the 15ft... way outside of building code standards for safety).
