Rodney Pierce, a Roanoke Rapids resident and Nash-Rocky Mount School District history teacher, attended the County Commissioner Meeting on July 13th to present the argument of removing this tablet from the Halifax County courthouse. His remarks can be found in the following news article from RRSPIN.https://www.rrspin.com/news/3068-research-will-continue-on-moving-tablet-honoring-csa-general.html

The Halifax County Commissioners are moving forward to research the ownership of the Confederate marker due to the Halifax Chapter of The United Daughters of the Confederacy being disbanded. This research has postponed this discussion to the next county commissioner’s meeting on August 10th at 9:30am.

Please continue to share and spread the word. This marker is unwelcome and highly disrespectful to our Halifax County citizens!!
