This petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of Gympie Council and the House the severe impact that proposed operating restrictions at Gympie Airport bring to the local aviation economy and future economic development at Gympie Airport. Gympie Airport is a vital piece of public and economic infrastructure with significant potential to generate local growth through all aviation activities. Operating limitations proposed by Gympie Council have no basis in sound aviation management, will have a catastrophic effect on this potential, have been made with insufficient engagement and should be immediately withdrawn

We believe that Gympie Council should facilitate economic development at the airport in consultation with the community and airport users through the establishment of a permanent aviation management group including all frequent users of Gympie airport to provide expert guidance and policy on matters related to airfield operations, safety and minimising the impact on the local community balanced against the creation of jobs and investment opportunities.

Your petitioners request Gympie Council to withdraw proposed operational restrictions at Gympie Airport and establish a permanent aviation management committee including all airfield users to provide guidance and inform future policy.
