Representative Ross Paustian of Scott County (House Enviromental Protection Chair) introduced legislation that takes aim at the cornerstone of Iowas recycling process, The Bottle Bill. This bill is currently heading to the Ways and Means committee. Our deposit law is the second best performing redeemed annually, compared to the 25% redemption rate in non-deposit states. This law keeps an estimated 1.65 billion containers out of our landfills, ditches and waters each year.
