More than a thousand supporters are petitioning to keep it open. Supporters are working to try and save a Target in East Roswell that's slated to close weeks after the holiday season ends. A petition to keep the store open has been signed by more than 1,060 people, toward a goal of 1,500 signatures. A letter to be submitted to Target along with the petition reads, in part: "This store is the only retail/grocery store open within a 20 (minute) drive of our area. This store also supports other businesses within the same complex which will most likely leave if the Target closes. We are also worried about an empty lot bringing crime into our area. We have been loyal customers for the past 8 years and enjoy the store very much." She did not directly answer whether petitions are considered or effective in keeping a store open. "I’d reiterate that the decision to close a store is not one we make lightly and this store will close at the end of our fiscal year," she said in an email. "We thank the community for their interest and support and encourage them to visit other nearby stores."
