We are so thrilled that the word regarding our petition and opposition to banning tents on Redington Beach has gotten out. Thanks to everyone who shared and promoted our petition.

The next meeting of the Redington Beach Board of Commissioners will be held on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 at 6:30pm

Please note – Ordinance 2024-04 – the second reading of Sec 13-30 (tents) revision – is NOT on the agenda. We have reached out to the boards of the gulf-front condos and given them an opportunity to take a position.
We expect the second reading to be on a future agenda.
We applaud the Mayor and the Town Commissioners for clearly hearing the majority of their constituents and deciding to postpone the second and final reading of the new ordiancne banning tents. However, I have since heard through the grapevine that they are considering banning tents in front of private homes only and allowing them elsewhere. At first blush, this sounds promising, but when you consider the implications, we strongly oppose the banning of tents anywhere on Redington Beach. Not allowing them in certain areas suggests those who own private homes on Redington Beach have more rights than those that own Condos or homes not on the beach. This smacks of favoritism and elitism. Home owners who do not live on the beach have the same rights to the public parts of our beaches as those who live on the beach.

Our condominium association is drafting a letter to the Mayor and Town Commissioners opposing the banning of tents anywhere on Redington Beach. We will share a template in case other homeowners or other Condominium Associations/Boards would like to reference it.
