This week I have been contacted by yet another family who have lost a baby at full term due to GBS. It breaks my heart every time I hear of another baby unnecessarily taken by GBS, who should be safe in the arms of their mother. I cannot understand why as a mother we are not informed there is a 1 in 4 chance we could be a carrier of GBS and be given the option to be tested privately until such a time that the NHS wake up to the importance of this potentionially fatal infection of offer screening. Over the last year I have come into contact with an astonishing amount of familes who have been affected by GBS. Each one my heart breaks for and it angers me that more is not being done to prevent this. I cannot thank you all enough for continuing to share this petition. I wish I could do more. The hospitals in our region have agreed to display posters in their antenatal waiting areas, this is a start, but I am pushing for infomrantion leaflets about GBS to be given at antenal appointments. Let's keep raising awareness any way we can to help the few we have the power to reach.
