The University of Texas at Austin offers counseling services through the Counseling and Mental Health Center, but at a cost that poses a financial strain to many students in need of help. Each hour-long counseling session costs $10, and students are limited to 6 sessions (with the exception of extenuating circumstances). UT is one of only two large Texas public universities that charges for counseling and mental health services, with The University of Houston charging 50% less per session. Please sign this petition and support me in asking the UT administration to lower the cost of mental health services in order to make them more accessible to students who cannot afford care.
