Stop killing Narwhal's

Stop killing Narwhal's
The Issue
Narwhal's are very useful creatures to us humans, not just because of the value of their tusks, but of their help to the study of global warming in the arctic region of the world. The "Unicorns of the sea" can swim deeper than humans can which means that they can go where we can't. Scientists attached thermometers to Narwhal's who dove in Greenland's Baffin Bay and they found out that the waters are 0.9 degrees celsius warmer than previously established.
There are about 50,000 Narwhal's left now and it's all our own fault. Greenland set a quota of 300 narwhal's that were allowed to be slain a year. Scientists say that no more than 135 should be killed so that Narwhal's can have a chance to recover as a species from the slaughtering we have been doing to them. With this in mind, Greenland for some reason decided to raise the quota of Narwhal's to 385 instead of lowering it which makes no sense.
The United States and Mexico have banned all imports of all marine mammal products, including narwhal ivory. They have taken several steps to ensure the safety of the narwhal species, but 2 out of the 196 countries in the world isn't a big enough difference to stop the issue at hand. Other countries like Greenland and Canada have very little to no concern about the Narwhal problem.
One man who accompanied one of the Inuit people's hunts said "This fact hit home as I watched a 13-year old boy armed with a 30-06 rifle shooting narwhals all day, wounding many but landing none. Elders stood nearby but said nothing." This is only one example of what we as humans are doing to these creatures.
I ask that the quota of Narwhal's killed be reduced from 385 down to 150 so that they have a fighting chance to survive. All anything ever needs is a chance, let's give the Narwhal's that chance.
