Weymouth Town Council UPDATE re meeting with Greenhill Community Trust CIC

Dear Swim Centre Supporter
Unfortunately,as the landlord of the chalet building, the councils (we are told the transfer of the asset is still in limbo from WPBC to DC to WTC) appear not to want to be involved in this matter. See the screenshot of the email we received at the end of last week.
Personally, I find that quite odd considering that this land was gifted to the local community and the swim facility is specifically mentioned as a community "seaside leisure facility" along with the putting green, paddling pool, tennis courts etc. in the lease that was given to Greenhill Community Trust CIC. Facilities that the lease states should remain open. Plus, for what it is worth, our 'licence' is also mentioned and defined as a "Third Party Lease" in the agreement. The presence of the swim facility is linked to Greenhill Community Trust's status as a community interest company too!
If we are deemed to have a lease as opposed to a licence we will have a right to remain.
We are still looking into the legal situation and have sent Dorset Council and FOI request in relation to the tendering process used to allocate the lease. We have also just received the result of a previous FOI which, rather strangely to all of us on the committee, states that there was no waiting list for chalets at Greenhill.
Please bear with us. We have not given up. In the meantime we will add the names of the council officers to this petition to reflect our disappointment at their decision regarding the views of 889 members of the community they work for. Please share the petition again with a personal note (if you have time) to try to get us to the magic 1,000!
Thanks again for your continued support and patience.
All the best
Jason
