The rental car industry purchases more than 2 million cars every year, keeps them in their fleet for an average of 13 months and then their inventory goes out to the resale market.  If all those cars out on the road were the most fuel-efficient hybrids (until there is adequate infrastructure to support electric cars) it could significantly reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions that warm the planet and pollute the air we breathe.  Each of us has a part to play in reducing our carbon footprint; together we can influence the car rental industry to do the same. For the sake of our children and grandchildren let's petition Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz, Avis and other rental car companies to green their fleet.
