We are very pleased to share that Victoria Hospice Society (VHS) announced the withdrawal of its proposal to buy the 1.3 acre parcel of land - that is part of Lansdowne Middle School South campus and adjacent to Bowker Creek - from the Greater Victoria School District (SD61). Trudi Brown, VHS Board Chair, stated: “We appreciate the input we have received from the community that helped us reach this decision ...” We wish VHS every success in finding a new location for the vital services they provide to the community.
SD61 also issued a statement on the sale which includes a commitment to explore opportunities with Rightsholders, the school community, neighbours, as well as partners including the Friends of Bowker Creek Society, Camosun Community Association, the Bowker Creek Initiative, and municipalities.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the community and all petition signers for your contributions to saving this piece of land! The work continues now to protect this property in perpetuity.
You can stay abreast of this work via the Friends of Bowker Creek Society and Camosun Community Association websites.
Thank you!
Isabel CvS, on behalf of a committed community that includes the Friends of Bowker Creek Society and the Camosun Community Association.
