People of GovanGlasgow, SCT, United Kingdom
Oct 21, 2015
Are you joining us on Friday to protest at the new Southern General Hospital? If so, can I ask that you to keep these important things in mind? 1. The protest will be between 2:30pm - 4:30pm. 2. We will be situated at the Govan Road entrance to the hospital. 3. If you are bringing signs/banners, please ensure they are tasteful & do not contain any foul/offensive language (there may be kids there). 4. We aim for this to be a family-friendly, civilised protest and feel this will be of benefit to us to get our point across. 5. Police have said there will be a police presence just to ensure everything goes well. We hope that you can join us to make our voices heard. We do not want a Royal name for our new publicly funded hospital. We want to either revert back to the previous rebranding of South Glasgow University Hospital or we want the opportunity to vote on a name ourselves. We also want to know why the renaming of the hospital took place and why one man (and his 'alleged' six colleagues) got to determine the name of a £842m publicly funded hospital, and why they named if after a prominent beacon of inequality that still blemishes our democracy in the modern era. People got to vote on the name of the new Forth Bridge crossing, why can't we get to vote a name for our publicly funded hospital in Glasgow? We hope to see you there. https://johnsharpbeattie.wordpress.com/2015/10/11/why-naming-the-new-southern-general-hospital-after-a-monarch-is-wrong/
