Back in 2017, Abellio Greater Anglia informed its customers that it would not be running a full train service throughout most weekends, plus the last train most Monday-Thursday evenings would be 9:35pm from May 2017 to December 2017.
Commuters endured this for six months and then were hit by a high ticket price increase in the New Year, only to find out that the same engineering works would still be in place through to May 2018.
We are unable to use the c2c line as Greater Anglia has provided "alternative transportation." Which include a shuttle bus service from Shenfield to Southend Victoria during weekday evenings and a train to Billericay, then a shuttle bus service to Newbury Park and then the central line to Liverpool Street for weekends.
Priced at £480 a month for a train ticket from Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street, plus the tube ticket, I believe that this is not an adequate alternative service. We do not pay almost £500 every month to spend double the amount of time commuting and we are paying for a train service and not a bus service.
This railway line is notorious for track defects, signal failures and frequent delays and we understand that you need time to repair all of these, plus to build Crossrail. However by not providing decent alternative transportation links (such as the c2c service) we feel that this is severely unfair towards your customers.
If you are providing a REDUCED service you should offer your customers a REDUCED rate. Or provide alternative transportation links at the level your customers are paying for.
