Hi folks,
Steve Edwards CEO of the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO) has provided this brief update regarding the Police Widows’ Pensions for Life court claim.
“Together with the Police Federation we continue to progress this claim. Statements have now been obtained from the lead applicants and other supporting witnesses and our legal team are now preparing the necessary legal documentation, with a view to lodging the claim at The High Court in Manchester at the end of July/beginning of August…”
Steve also says in this month’s NARPO magazine - that they have continued to discuss the campaign during meetings with key politicians.
NARPO and the Police Federation are providing the opportunity to progress a claim through the courts on our behalf; this is something that we could not have achieved without their support, and I think you will agree that we should continue to do our bit in the meantime.
Therefore, if you are a recent signatory of this petition and have yet to write to your MP regarding our campaign, please consider doing so; don’t forget to state our objective i.e. we are seeking parity with RUC widows in Northern Ireland and lifelong pensions for ALL police widows.
Since my update 2 weeks ago 386 signatures have been added to this petition; many thanks for continuing to share the link – your ongoing support means the world to me.
Do stay safe everyone.
Best wishes as always,
Cathryn
