This question was asked today during PMQs and would suggest that David Cameron is seriously out of the loop where the changes to the armed forces and police widows' pensions are concerned: Angus Robertson: "However, is the Prime Minister aware that many, many service widows continue to be deprived of their forces pensions if there is a change in their personal circumstances? Does he agree that that is a clear breach of the spirit of the military covenant, and what will he do to rectify that wrong?" The Prime Minister: "I think that it was last year that we made a big change at around the time of Armistice day to ensure that many people who had remarried were able to get their pensions. That was a very big step forward, which was welcomed by the British Legion. If there are further steps that we need to take, I am very happy to look at them and see what can be done. I also remember that, in the last Budget, we looked at the case of police widows, and we tried to put right their situation as well." No married armed forces widows have had their pensions reinstated, and no police widows in England and Wales will have theirs reinstated when the current changes are laid in legislation. Our situation is far from being,"Put right". It would appear that beyond delivering a speech on 8th November last year - the details of which he has clearly forgotten, and confirming that police widow Amanda Keylock will receive a lifelong pension - he has had little involvement in the proposed changes. Further questions need to be asked of the Prime Minister without them being diverted to Mike Penning or the MOD. Please ask your MP or SMP if they can assist us with getting questions directly to the Prime Minister. We are not asking them to fight both campaigns as this would be problematical for everyone concerned, but David Cameron chose to mention both campaigns in answer to a single question and we need to capitalise on this opportunity. Sincere thanks to Dave Conroy and Jim Igoe who were listening to PMQs and both flagged up the question and the PM's reply. To the one person out there that doesn't know my email address for all letters sent and received: CathrynHall@outlook.com Who knew that PMQs could prove to be so interesting? Cathryn
