Budget Support Announced - The Journey to IoE Continues

Dear Friends, We are delighted to share that the first major milestone in JU's journey towards Institute of Eminence (IoE) has been crossed. The West Bengal Budget 2026 has announced a funding roadmap of ₹1,000 crore from the Central Government and ₹200 crore from the State Government over the next five years for Jadavpur University. We sincerely thank the Government of West Bengal, led by the Hon'ble Chief Minister, the Finance Minister, and the Education Ministries of both the State and the Centre for this significant step.

What does this mean for our campaign?

We believe our mission is not yet complete. The campaign should continue until JU is formally granted IoE status and a clear, time-bound roadmap is in place to realize its full potential.

The next priority is to support the University's leadership in building world-class Research Centres of Excellence (CoEs) aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and future industry and societal needs. We strongly encourage the University to engage distinguished JU alumni from industry and academia in identifying high-impact, globally relevant CoE areas.
