RE: Keep 7D & 7E at Waterloo Change.org Petition Hi Homer, Thank you for your online feedback on the proposed 2015 Grand River Transit Service Improvement Plan and for your petition regarding the Route 7 branches in Waterloo. We appreciate your input, and the input of the petition supporters. The changes to Route 7 are being proposed in order to provide more direct, streamlined service along the busiest portion of the route, King Street. Adjusting all Route 7 service in Waterloo to King would allow for increased frequency, improved customer comprehension, and make the route more effective with ION light rail. To accommodate additional demand on the University Avenue and Columbia Street corridors as a result of the proposed changes, increased service on the 200 iXpress (as well as additional stations) and on other local routes in these corridors (such as Route 92) will be evaluated, to ensure that we can provide the level of service required. It is recognized that these corridors are very busy, and that providing appropriate service levels to meet the demand is important. In addition, we have received input from many other riders concerning service to the western side of Ring Road, and recognize that this area will require further review. Your feedback and the comments received through the online petition will be considered as we review and revise the proposed Plan based on public input collected online, by phone, fax, or mail, and at public meetings. Prior to any changes, the proposed Plan will be reviewed and revised if necessary. The revised option will then be presented through Public Information Centres to obtain further public input. The dates and locations of PICs will be posted on the GRT website and at transit terminals once they have been set. Implementation of any changes will be dependent on approval by Regional Council. Feel free to share this response with your petition supporters on the petition webpage. Kind Regards, Eric Pisani Principal Planner | Transit Development Transit Services Division Transportation & Environmental Services Department Region of Waterloo
