Problem
This petition follows the recent attacks/killings/fatal injuring of cats by a local dog who is not kept under control by its owner & is still allowed to escape and attack/kill/fatally injure cats (14 that we know of) & 3 dogs.

The cats & dogs that have been attacked/killed/fatally injured have been loved pets. A lot of people including people that weren’t the owners of the animals have been upset by these events, some seeing things which will be very hard to forget & some having to find money to cover unexpected & very high costs of vets fees. Not only are we fighting for a change for all the pets that it is to late for, we are greatly concerned that a future victim could be a child (or adult) who is or has handled a cat or dog & has the scent on them & then be attacked should the dog not be removed from the community.


Solution
We hereby request consideration be given to the following two factors

1. A change in the law regarding the attacking/killing/fatal injuring of cats by dogs and/or humans. We request it be recognised as a crime as we currently believe it isn’t, but as dogs are, cats are family pets, companions & loved just as much.

2. That any dog responsible for such an attack be removed from its owner(s) who does not appear to be responsible enough to keep such an animal (or any similar animal in the future) and who are not willing to surrender the animal to the authorities despite the events that have occurred & having being asked to do so by owners of the animals attacked/killed/fatally injured.

3. The dog(s) involved need to be removed from the owner(s) to stop other attacks happening & to make the community feel safe again

Personal story
Our cat was the latest cat victim of this dog, she was in her front garden when she was attacked & it was witnessed, her injuries were that severe we had to have her put to sleep. The following week (to the exact day) the same dog was witnessed attacking another dog who was severely but not fatally injured.
