Dear all
Happy New Year, and thank you for your ongoing support and interest in this tragic and as yet unresolved case.
Hopefully, this will be the year that Belly's family achieves a measure of justice in this matter.
I have been waiting to post an update on the campaign for some definitive news on the Coroner's Inquest.
The current position is that a medical expert is to be instructed to determine whether it is likely that Belly contracted covid 19 at work be it due to the conduct of the assailant, Mr AB, or due to alleged inadequate health and safety conditions at work. If there is found to be likely causation then a 7 day Inquest will be held starting on 27 June 2022. If not, then the Inquest will end at that stage.
If it goes ahead, we anticipate that Mr AB may have to give evidence as a witness to the events at work that Belly suffered before having to shield. This will provide the first opportunity for him to be properly questioned and have to account for his conduct.
During the Inquest process, we have suspended our intended application to the High Court to force the British Transport Police to release Mr AB's name so that we can sue him for his alleged assault on Belly.
If you can support the crowdfunding campaign for Belly at crowdjustice please continue to do so. We will probably need more financial support if the Inquest (or High Court battle) is to go ahead.
Be well, in these difficult times,
Onwards and upwards,
Lawrence
