I am sorry for the confusion on the last update. If people could please just email and call the contacts listed and complain about the DNR not verifying the petitions being submitted by lake associations to have geese and swans removed from their lakes. They are permitting these people to remove wildlife and they do not have the 70% of the signatures required to do so. They are not following their own management plans and they don't care because they are making lots of money off the geese. They get paid for the round up permits and they make money on the hunting season. These birds are being split up from their families and put through many hours of hell, so the DNR, USDA, and removal companies can make a buck. Commerce Lake and Lake Sherwood are two communities that do not have the required signatures, yet the DNR allows them to remove geese anyway. I am sure these are not the only two communities getting away with this. If this is happening to the geese, it is happening with the Mute Swans too, only the swans are being killed and not relocated. We want the DNR to be held accountable for not doing their jobs. If they do not have the manpower to verify permit applications and petitions, then they should not be giving approval for the removal of our wildlife. If you want, make reference to the Michigan tourism commercials - Pure Michigan - Must mean no wildlife, etc... Whatever you can do to show that you are unhappy with the job the Michigan DNR is doing. Thanks
