Governor Terry McAuliffe has just announced his support for removing the name of Jefferson Davis from Route 1. Obviously, this is the biggest breakthrough during our 3-month campaign and it could not have been accomplished without your support by signing the petition, leaving comments and getting others to sign. I will be writing a letter to Governor McAuliffe shortly to thank him for taking interest in our petition and for supporting it. I hope to share the letter with all of you. Still, victory has not yet been achieved and it will not be an easy victory to achieve either. Local representatives are slowly getting on board with the name-change initiative. We need to fire them up and get them energized about either sponsoring or supporting a bill to change the name of Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway just as the Governor has done.
