Michael Webb was convicted of the 1990 murder of his three-year-old son, Michael Patrick Webb. We urge Governor Kasich to consider the following and commute Michael’s death sentence to life without parole:

• Michael Webb maintains his innocence. There is important evidence, including a police report issued five days after the fire that has not been disclosed.
• The jury did not hear mitigating evidence that may have impacted the sentence. Trial counsel hired a mitigation investigator only three days prior to the guilt phase. Therefore, the investigator had an insufficient amount of time and resources to prepare a thorough report and presentation.
• The victim survivors have expressed desire to spare Michael’s life.
