Petition updateUniversal Healthcare in Hawaii via The Hawaii Health AuthorityHealth Care Rally February 25 at the Hawaii State Capitol

Dennis B Millerhonolulu, HI, United States

23 Feb 2017
Aloha!
Bernie called for a national day of Health Care rallies on February 25 to oppose Republican efforts to repeal the ACA.
Let's support that, and support efforts to fix health care locally.
11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Hawaii State Capitol, mauka side.
We need the ACA's Medicaid expansion funds to remain intact, so that the Hawaii Health Authority can apply for the federal waivers to fold both Medicaid and Medicare into one state program.
At this rally, both updates on the current situation and 'from the beginning' explanations of 'what is going' on will be provided:
1. What happened with the bills to fund the Hawaii Health Authority
2. What is happening with Governor Ige's bill to Abolish the Hawaii Health Authority
3. What was discussed at the states public testimony on the expected impacts of the repeal of the ACA
4. Why did Representative Belatti refer to the HHA negatively, saying, "that would mean that the government is running your health care." Really, how can she think that way? Let's talk about it.
5. How would the HHA's 'universal health care plan' mesh with Hawaii's Prepaid Health Care Act?
6. Why does Gov Ige's bill to Abolish the HHA use wildly flimsy reasoning?
7. How Did Senator Roz Baker parrot those patently inaccurate rationales as she passed this SB977 bill through her Health committee last Friday?
This will be both a show of signs, and a meeting.
Let's talk about:
1 How we will move the goal of Universal Health Care forward
2. What are the many benefits of Universal Health Care
3. What are all the aspects of the current health care crisis?
At the rally, I'll bring a 30 feet canvas and paint. Painting volunteers, please bring some sweats that can get splashed in blue paint.
Who would like to see a 30 foot Universal Health Care sign held in front of the governors mansion?
Single Payer, Universal Health Care, Improved Medicare for All: these all essentially describe the same thing, with important distinctions.
Let's talk about those distinctions so we can become very clear about what our exact goals are.
Most of all, let's take some time for Health Care reform, and prepare our plans for building this movement.
Aloha!
