I write with a heavy heart today. As I wanted to share the uplifting news of surpassing our fundraising goal, the killing of Nobel and New York Thunder has reaffirmed the critical importance of our work.
Because of your support, we have surpassed our fundraising goal of $20,000, reaching a total of $20,471 by our target date of Saturday, August 26th.
On that very same day, as we rallied with 60 protesters and a mobile billboard on Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course, two horses were killed in full public view. In the 5th race, Nobel suffered a catastrophic injury and was euthanized on the track. New York Thunder faced a similar fate in the ninth race.
Nobel and New York Thunder, horses who deserved a life free from suffering, both suffered and died in the pursuit of entertainment. With your continued support, we can continue to work to be a voice for these magnificent creatures.
