Aloha friends —
I want to take a moment to say mahalo nui loa to every single one of you who has signed this petition, who has donated to promote it, and who helped us reach our first big milestone — 1,000 signatures.
This is a powerful moment — not just because of the number, but because each one of those signatures is a voice raised in defense of dignity, safety, and human rights.
But this is far from over. In fact, this fight is more urgent than ever.
Across the country, anti-trans legislation is sweeping through state legislatures, and now, under a MAGA-controlled US House, Senate, and White House, transgender people — who make up just 1% of the population — are being relentlessly targeted.
We’ve seen this playbook before: inflame fear, scapegoat a minority, distract from real issues.
And now we’ve seen the Supreme Court turn its back on us, not once but repeatedly — from overturning Roe v. Wade to the devastating Skrmetti decision, which allows states to ban gender-affirming care.
Let’s be clear: we can no longer rely on federal protections to safeguard our rights.
But we can act here, in Hawai‘i.
This petition calls on Governor Josh Green to take bold, immediate action to issue an executive order protecting gender-affirming care — for both patients and providers — and to ensure that our state remains a place of refuge in a nation increasingly hostile to trans lives.
We are also going to push the Hawai‘i State Legislature to take action — to protect access to care, and to explicitly enshrine gender identity as a protected class under our Hawai‘i constitution.
Because with the rising wave of hate speech and hateful and harmful legislation — the law must be clear as day: discrimination against transgender people is not welcome here in Hawai‘i.
To our straight and cisgender allies:
We need you.
We need you not just as friends, but as vocal and active supporters.
Because when you stand up for our rights, you are standing up for your own rights too — for the values of liberty, privacy, and self-determination that belong to all of us.
We are a small and demonized minority, but we are not invisible. We are not powerless. And we will not bend the knee to bigotry, nor disappear quietly into the margins.
We are here.
We deserve to live free from fear,
free from state-sanctioned hatred, and with the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
So thank you — truly — for standing with us.
