I am writing to you today with a heavy heart about the tragic death of a beautiful horse named Rockinhippiechick. As an animal lover and supporter of our cause, I know this news will deeply affect you.
As you may have read on our website, Rockinhippiechick suffered a fracture during a race at Laurel Park on October 6. She was then sent for surgery to repair her leg. During recovery, she developed colic, and both her attending vet and owner agreed that euthanasia was warranted.
But then track owner The Stronach Group, in a desperate attempt to keep death numbers down, convinced Rockin's owner to transfer her to them so she could undergo yet another surgery. She never made it to the hospital.
Rockin died alone, in pain, in terror, on the back of the van - her suffering extended by hours. It's tragedies like this that highlight the urgent need to save the lives of these beautiful horses. We believe that the only way to truly protect these animals is to end horseracing.
But we need your help. From now until May 31, our goal is to raise $10,000 to help us continue this crucial work.
Please consider making a donation today to support our work to end horseracing and honor the memory of Rockinhippiechick. Together, we can create a world where horses are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
