#FernhurstWOMEN: Call Governor Ige and PSD!
Thank you to everyone that has signed our petition! Over 97,500 signatures! We are so grateful to you for your support of the Fernhurst program. We wanted to both share our appreciation and give an update, as our work is not yet done.
PROGRAM UPDATE: The Department of Public Safety (PSD) transferred the women that were currently in the program back to prison on Wednesday, nearly a week before the contract end date.
PSD has recently attempted to shift the conversation by stating this is a temporary situation and the program will return when finances are more favorable. This is hard to believe, though, because this is not the first time they have tried to cancel this valuable program in recent years. Once they are successful eliminating the program, the chances of it returning are slim to none.
CALL TO ACTION: We need you to call and write Governor Ige & PSD Director Nolan Espinda to show your support and ask them to save this successful and vital program.
