Many of the more ambulatory residents have already left the centers to live within various communities, and are thriving. The remaining residents of these centers are profoundly disabled & have lived there many years, it is the only home they have known.These Centers provide a level of medical vigilance,as well as, emotionally-nurturing care, many loved-ones fear, cannot possibly be met in a Community Residence. Please pass the new legislation, No. 2596 sponsored by Senator Joseph Vitale,Middlesex Senator Nellie Pou, Bergen & Passaic & Sentor Barbara Buono, Middlesex to recind recommendation of the Task Force on the Closure of State Developmental Centers and create a new task force to acertain the importance of these facilities & the needs of the most vulnerable in our state.
