Governor Braun: Release the Inspector General's Report on the IEDC and Elevate Ventures
Governor Braun: Release the Inspector General's Report on the IEDC and Elevate Ventures
The Issue
In April 2025, Governor Braun froze Elevate Ventures' funding and ordered an independent forensic audit of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, promising Hoosiers transparency. The audit returned October 2, 2025 with 45 findings, including thirty entities where an IEDC insider had a potential conflict of interest. It was referred to the Inspector General. The outcome is sealed.
Indiana law does not require this. IC 4-2-7-8(b) says investigative records "may" be kept confidential. That is a choice, not a duty. And IC 4-2-7-8(e) expressly permits disclosure "if the governor authorizes the disclosure of this information in the public interest."
Since then, $15 million of public money has moved to a new venture fund, and in July 2026 the Office of Inspector General ended a practice as old as the office itself: publishing its investigative reports. Nine reports were published in 2025. This year: none.
The evidence is documented, claim by claim, with sources, and the full case file will be linked in our first update to signers.
We, the undersigned, call on Governor Braun to exercise his authority under IC 4-2-7-8(e) and release the Inspector General's report on the IEDC and Elevate Ventures referral. If everything is on the up and up, releasing it costs nothing. Transparency was the promise. Keep it.
