Sojourner Truth Statue in New Paltz

Hello:

After our original effort to get a statue of Sojourner Truth in 2018 was unsuccessful, SUNY New Paltz agreed to place a statue of Sojourner Truth outside of the Sojourner Truth Library. The statue, by Trina Greene who created the Esopus statue of Sojourner Truth, is near completion and scheduled to be placed on campus in the fall of 2021. To date, nearly $30,000 has been raised for the project with another $50,000 still needed for completion. 

Times are tough, but I am asking that you consider making a contribution to what would be the only statue of Sojourner Truth as a young woman in the United States. In the last two years, the message of Sojourner Truth has only grown more prevalent. Memorializing her legacy in this way would help educate generations to come and you can be a part of that!
