Women and Girls Worldwide Suffer Horrific Levels of Violence

• Globally half of all female homicide victims were killed by their partner or family member. UN Women
• A UN report estimates that 35% of women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. UN Women
• Every five minutes, a child dies as a result of violence. Unicef
• Every 10 minutes somewhere in the world an adolescent girl dies as a result of violence. UN Women
• 120 million girls worldwide have been subjected to sexual violence. UN
• Almost 9 in 10 women in some cities around the world feel unsafe in public spaces. UN Women
• It is estimated that 4.5 million people worldwide are trapped in forced sexual exploitation. Polaris Project 

Deterrents and Self-Defence Strategies Urgently Needed:

1. Make Pepper Spray legal for women worldwide. 
2. Teach girls Martial Arts in schools. 
3. Publish National Abusers Registers of all convicted perpetrators of violence and sexual abuse.

The #HANDSOFF Campaign is calling for an end to all violence. We have three goals:

1. Victims will speak up.
2. Abusers will stop.
3. Violence becomes unacceptable.
