Save the Yamuna River

Save the Yamuna River

The Issue

The Yamuna river is a river in Delhi that has a total length around 1,370 kilometers, is the largest tributary of the Ganges in northern India. Yamuna is considered the most sacred among all the rivers as per Hindu mythology but now it is known as one of the most polluted rivers in India. The main causes for the pollution are untreated sewage, industrial effluents, the dumping of garbage and dead bodies, immersion of idols and pollution due to in-stream uses of water. This is bad since 57 million people depend on the river for water and the river accounts for more than 70 percent of Delhi's water supplies. Without the water Delhi's water supplies will start to run dry. The government needs to know that without it, a huge percent of people won't get water, so please sign this petition.
