Flood Damaged Vehicles - Govt requested to waive off VAT, Excise Duty & Road Taxes / Regn
Flood Damaged Vehicles - Govt requested to waive off VAT, Excise Duty & Road Taxes / Regn
The Issue
Dear Sirs,
I am sure the entire world is aware of the magnitude of the losses to the people of Tamil Nadu because of the deluge and most of them lost everything during the flood, be it their houses and all household articles, important documents, and all Vehicles.
Entire Chennai automobile service centres are now flooded with towed in vehicles and many of them are now parked road side, as there is no space left. Over 15000 cars are affected and most of the cases the repair cost is equivalent to the cost of the new vehicle.
Here we request the Government and the concerned departments to ensure the grieving victims are not again taxed with "VAT & Service Taxes" on repairs, where ever there are 'Total Loss Declared', no more further charges on 'VAT & Taxes' for the new vehicle if those want to buy a new one, Waive off Road Tax (old one can be transferred to the new vehicle's name), Waive of Registration Charges so on.
When the losses are in multi crores, and for each vehicle owner it is in a few lakhs, I hope the Government can support them by doing this. This will help people to reduce their losses.
It may also be requested that Automobile Manufactures, OEM manufacturers, Dealerships are also join the customers grief, and support them during this bad days. Let the works be on Cost to Cost, with minimum labour charges, and not be for increasing their profits. Manufacturers are requested to ensure they give enough offers and loyalty discounts for those affected people and also take this up with Government departments for desired exemption on Excise Duty / VAT / ST / Road Taxes / Registration etc.
Hope this request reaches the authorities and we get to hear actions with positive support.
Regards
Vinod
