The fate of Gander Airport is now up for grabs. The Gander Airport Authority has informed the press that the airport structure -- which is internationally-recognized for its art and design -- is too costly to maintain. This building is an important part of our provincial heritage. In addition to its unique artistic qualities, the airport acted as the gateway to the island for many years. Later, it served as the springboard for great acts of generosity in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

We do not yet know the fate of the building. We simply ask that it be preserved and made accessible to the people of the province. 

Let us come together and prevent yet another part of Newfoundland and Labrador's cultural heritage from being demolished or falling into neglect.
