Reef Check Malaysia has recently learned that Department of Marine Parks Malaysia (DMPM) is to move back to be part of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

WE APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT TO RECONSIDER THIS MOVE. We believe it is in the best interests of Malaysia's coral reefs, and the communities that rely on them, that conservation of these important resources remains under the control of a ministry charged with RESOURCE CONSERVATION (KATS or MESTECC) and NOT a ministry charged with RESOURCE UTILISATION (Ministry of Agriculture).
