Day #15 | At Least 326 Signatures Needed Daily to Meet Our 15K Goal
Hi Friends,
We are now at Day 15 of our petition. At the time of writing 9,795 of us locally and internationally have united for #moresubvention4utechja
I am grateful for our collective show of support. The unity we have generated in support of our national University, UTech, Jamaica is very important.
However as it relates to achieving our goal of 15,000 signatures, in the specific time frame, we are behind and may not achieve our goal.
I initially submitted our petition to our Government's Jamaica House Petition Site on Ash Wed, 6th March, 2019. When I received no indication of approval, I submitted the petition to this international petition site Change. org. And Change. org published it immediately.
However, since our petition is to our Government, we are using their criteria for the submission of petitions, so that we can approach them in a manner that they respect. The Jamaica House Petition Site states their requirements as:
-----------------------------
Get 15,000 Signatures
If you gather 15,000 signatures in 40 days, we’ll review your petition, and if it complies with agreed standards, the Office of the Prime Minister will issue an official response.
----------------------------
HOW MUCH TIME LEFT?
To be safe, we need to aim to meet the 15,000 goal ahead of the 40 days. So we set a target of 15K in 30 days. That would be March 9th - April 8th, 2019
Monday April 8th, 2019 is 16 days from today.
As of today, we need 5205 more signatures
To achieve that in 16 days, requires our collective...focused...and continuous...promotion of the petition to our family, friends, co-workers, social media sites, email lists, whats'app groups, online and offline groups including diaspora groups.
326 new supporters per day @16 days = 5216 signatures and #GoalAccomplished
Holding our Jamaican Government accountable for proper stewardship of the University of Technology, Jamaica is a matter of national and regional importance.
9,795 of us agree with that.
Let us do our best to show that at least 15,000 of us agree with that too.
Thank you for being attentive to and supporting UTech, Jamaica.
Enjoy your day and weekend
