We Demands District and Separate Assembly Seat for Zanskar ... 

Zanskar is the highest pleat of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir with much of it at over 3500m above sea level. Zanskar is a Sub Division of the Kargil District in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Covering an area of 7000 sq. kilometers, this region is located at a distance of 250 kilometers from its District headquarter Kargil. Such remote location of a sub division from its district headquarters and that too remaining cut off from the district headquarter from 6 months is one of its own kind in whole India.

We demand District and Separate Assembly Seat for Zanskar. 

Zanskar for separate Assembly seat. WE WANT TO END THE POLITICAL ALIENATION OF ZANSKER AND ARE SEEKING TRUE REPRESENTATION IN THE REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT.
Zanskar assembly constituency including one sub-division of Zanskar (which is the oldest subdivision in JK) and one tehsil of Sankoo was allotted in 1996 by Justice K.K. Gupta delimitation. This assembly constituency was allotted to give representation to the people of Zanskar in the assembly by taking into consideration the isolated geographical location and economic backwardness of the people of Zanskar but it is to the misfortune of the people of Zanskar that till now it has not given due representation to the Zanskar in the assembly. Gerrymandering (In the process of setting electoral districts, gerrymandering is a practice that attempts to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating electoral district boundaries to create partisan advantaged districts) of electoral constituency of Zanskar has been deliberate effort to deny the due representation to Zanskar in the legislative assembly. If we look into the demography of Zanskar constituency than we will find out that it has carved out in such a way that served the interest of few vested interest in Sankoo and it is not really a Zanskar constituency rather it is Sankoo constituency. This fact of Zanskar assembly constituency also needs to highlighted that Rangdum which is the last village between Kargil and Zanskar has been excluded from the Zanskar assembly constituency and it has been adjusted to Kargil assembly seat which shows the worst gerrymandering of the assembly seat. With this kind of injustice and open violation of territorial boundary of Zanskar to benefit the particular region is against the democratic norms of representative democracy which need to be corrected as soon as possible. In the representative form of government as we have in our state as well as our country, it is very important to give representation to all the section of the population in the assembly.
