On the surface, it looks good right? Influx of money, a new energy source, jobs. But when you look deeper and do your due diligence, it’s another stab at corporate investments trying to take advantage of a people in an economically vulnerable position in the worst way possible. We all know how Churchill and Muskrat turned out.. where’s our cheaper power bills? At least with them, they aren’t polluting the environment in a way that’s irreversible. Bringing plastics into it is a whole new ballgame. So you take the money and the jobs and then ten years down the road, you see the results.. wildlife taking in fine plastics, air quality diminishing to the point that central NL is nothing but a drive through to get to the other side, fish and whales struggling to survive the extra shipping lanes due to importing garbage. Where does it end? All this for a few jobs? Nah b’y. If you’re not pissed off about this, then get pissed off because this is not the answer to anything.
