Cage Eggs should be banned in Australia

Cage Eggs should be banned in Australia
The issue
Walking into the shed, I see millions of cages with up to seven chickens in each, crammed with a putrid, off putting smell with billions of flies everywhere. I am starting to sweat with the amount of heat inside here, how do these helpless chickens survive? I believe caging chickens and creating battery farms is disgraceful. I believe this as chickens outperform cats and dogs in tests, they are crammed and tortured in cages and lay and behave better when they have freedom.
Chickens are squished into cages with up to six other chickens with less space than an A4 piece of paper to live in. They only live until they are one and a half to two years old. Although chickens can usually live until they are 12, they stop laying after 18 months. Once they become spent hens (stop laying), they are sent to the slaughter house. Although we might think they can be saved from the slaughter house, they can't as they can barely stand, walk or run after being confined to a cage for two years. From when they are 18 weeks old and start laying until they are two years old and stop laying, they are tortured in their cages along with six chickens with whom they share their cage. These cages are filthy as they are never cleaned. Frequently, chickens contract serious diseases and die before they get slaughtered. I believe that caging chickens and cage eggs is a form of animal cruelty and should be banned.
Chickens living in Battery Farms receive no natural sunlight only artificial light to help them lay eggs. Yes, I agree, chickens don't require natural sunlight to produce eggs but it has been scientifically proven that chickens produce eggs of a higher quality and are happier when they are treated fairly and have natural sunlight. I believe that if chickens are free-range with a caring owner that they will be happier and produce better quality eggs. I believe that you should buy free-range eggs over cage eggs because spending that extra one to two dollars will make an enormous difference to the chickens.
Too much of our surprise scientists have conducted tests on chickens and proved that they outperform cats and dogs on tests of cognitive, emotional and behavioural complexity. In other words, I believe this means that chickens are smart, aware and intelligent and should never be confined to a cage. I believe that buying cage eggs is just going to make the cage egg industry thrive, so let's all stop and spend the extra one or two dollars to buy approved free-range eggs and bring the cage eggs industry to extinction.
