Greetings.
After a long break, we are glad to reconnect once again. While updates have slowed down, there has been a lot of activity, even as our country's land, forests and water bodies continue to reel under the weight of destruction from illegal and irresponsible mining. Here are a few of what we've been up to:
1.Today, Aug 23, 2022, Ghana Environmental Advocacy Group and A Rocha Ghana sent a petition to the Attorney General, the IGP, the Minister for the Interior, the Immigration Service and Copied the Speaker of Parliament. This is with regard to the absence of foreigners arrested for Galamsey and Irresponsible mining offenses in our prisons, in spite of the law that requires them to. 2. We currently have 2 virtual campaigns running to #savetanonimre. Please join, share and help get it to Mr Bernard Antwi Bosiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman and CEO of Akonta Mining whose company is currently destroying the iconic Tano Nimre forest reserve. 3. The news of unbridled galamsey destruction and irresponsible mining continues to come in from all around us.
