Today, March 6, Ghana's Independence Day and in the course of next week we are sending a special petition to the Chiefs of Nzema (Evalue Jwira, Elembenle and Jomoro) districts in the Western Region of Ghana, where local rivers like Ankobra and Tano, lagoons like Abbey and entire towns, including Nkroful, the birthplace of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Africa's Man of the Century and Ghana's first President, have been ravaged by the menace of Galamsey and irresponsible mining to stand up and safeguard their communities. MPs and DCEs in Nzema are being copied as well. Like they say, "charity begins at home."
