Voter Choice Connecticut
Aug 17, 2020
Hello supporters,
We succeeded! Thanks so much for signing our petition calling on Gov. Lamont to allow fear of COVID 19 to be a valid reason to vote by absentee ballot in Connecticut's presidential primary, which was held last week. He did indeed allow for that, signing an Executive Order back in May. We were also calling on him to do the same for the general election. He didn't have the authority to do so under his public emergency powers, but thanks in part to your advocacy, the CT General Assembly met in late July and passed legislation also expanding absentee ballot access to all voters.
Thousands of voters took advantage of voting absentee, protecting their health and those of others.
Our work isn't done, however. You've no doubt heard about President Trump's efforts, through his newly installed, hand-picked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, to sabotage the election by degrading mail delivery.
We can't let that happen. That's why we've launched another petition, this one calling on the Postal Board of Governors to fire Louis DeJoy.
Please add your name, and share.
Thank you for protecting our democracy!
