Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The current COVID 19 crises is Mother Earth’s way of pushing each one of us to introspect and reflect how inexorably interconnected all life on this plant is – how we, humans, have to respect the animal and plant kingdom and our planet if we are to survive. In this era of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization, we tend to forget that the land we live in needs to be taken care of – not exploited. The  Pandemic, has locked down humans, so nature can heal itself.

Shanti Sahyog initiative #ChooseNonviolentDefence, aims for a World Beyond Violence and War. On this significant day, let us all resolve to adopt nonviolence as a way of life and choose friendship over enmity; opt for Gandhi’s legacy of nonviolent conflict resolution over wars and annihilation.
