Stop Negative SEO

Stop Negative SEO
The Issue
Google made a massive update to their algorithm way back in 2012. This update was named Penguin. Since then there has been 5 updates to penguin. Penguin is a different update compared to many other update Google does every year. Penguin update targeted unnatural links / artificially built links to a site. The problem with this update is Google unleashed a beast called negative link attack or negative SEO. Google held a website owner responsible for all the backlinks his site has. This became a major problem because backlinks are something a webmaster / site owner doesn't have full control over. Many disgruntled webmasters / site owners who lost their website Google ranking in this update started hitting their competitors with 1000s of negative links.
Negative links include links from blog comments, Free For All ( FFA ) sites and many other sources that Google considers as unnatural or spam. Google has repeatedly denied negative SEO exists. But this penguin update has made it possible for competitors to target sites with junk links. Before penguin update this was not possible because most of the on page spam are within a site owners control. But backlinks are not in his control but Google did not consider this factor.
We want Google to bring changes to their algorithm so that it stops allowing others to hurt someone else's site.
